Every Year, New Opportunities
Each year brings fresh chances to grow as a photographer and as a person. Setting goals motivates me, but photography isn’t only about checking off a list. Whether a goal is achieved or not often depends on a blend of dedication, luck, and circumstance—that’s the beauty of life. From a nature photography perspective, I’ve realized that when I look back on a year, it’s often the unplanned, spontaneous encounters in nature that bring me the most joy, rather than the planned shots.
So, what are my goals for the year? Below is my list, filled with dreams of capturing both magical moments and the raw beauty of wildlife. I’ll update this as the year unfolds to reflect how it all turned out.
Goals for the Year
Musk oxen in a snowstorm or against the pink skies of the Dovre landscape
The elegant display of the great-crested grebe
A tawny owl family in their woodland home
Black-throated divers with chicks sharing an intimate moment
Sunrise with little grebes
Great-crested grebes in heavy rain
A dipper family with stunning bokeh from a stream
------------------------------------------
Mute swan family at their most serene
A goosander family’s peaceful moments
Arctic terns in graceful courtship
Capturing the birdlife of Varanger
Black woodpecker family interactions
Little grebes with chicks riding on their backs

Each goal is a dream, a challenge, and a potential story waiting to be told. Whether or not I capture every moment, I look forward to all the surprises and encounters that will unfold along the way. Nature never fails to amaze.
