In February 2024, I had the privilege of spending a week in the breathtaking Masai Mara, staying at the Oltepesi Tented Safari Camp. The camp offers a truly unique experience with its specialized jeeps designed for low-angle photography, allowing me to capture wildlife at eye level—a perspective that brings the savannah to life in an extraordinary way.
For this trip, I primarily relied on my 400mm f/2.8 lens, which allowed me to capture several portraits that I’m proud of. However, I found that focusing so heavily on this lens sometimes limited my creativity. That said, every moment spent in the field was a valuable lesson. Photography is as much about growth and self-discovery as it is about capturing the perfect shot.
however, the experience itself, is one I’ll never forget. The luxury of spending countless hours observing and photographing lions, cheetahs, and leopards in their natural habitat was nothing short of a dream come true. To witness these majestic creatures up close and in their element is a humbling experience that stays with you forever.
