During my second visit to Nipfjället, I had one clear goal: to spot and photograph the elusive Eurasian Dotterel. It’s funny to think that I ended up covering a total of 6,000 kilometers on the road in pursuit of this beautiful bird, only to come up short. Despite not achieving my goal, the journey was far from a disappointment.
Nipfjället, with its breathtaking alpine landscape and serene atmosphere, provided the perfect backdrop for a memorable trip with friends. While the dotterel remained elusive, I was rewarded with some fantastic photography opportunities. The highlight of the trip was spending time with a mountain hare, capturing its elegant presence amidst the rugged terrain.
Sometimes, the beauty of nature photography lies not in ticking off a target species but in the unexpected moments and shared experiences along the way. I may not have photographed the Eurasian Dotterel this time, but the trip reaffirmed why I love these journeys.
