In the summer of 2023, I had the privilege of visiting Stora Karlsö for the first time. This extraordinary island, located off the coast of Gotland, is a true paradise for nature lovers and bird enthusiasts. Stora Karlsö is renowned for its rich wildlife, including its iconic nesting colonies of razorbills and guillemots, which are among the largest in the Baltic Sea.
As a first visit, I spent just a few hours exploring the island during the middle of the day, soaking in its unique landscapes and observing the birdlife.
In 2025, I plan to return with my family for an overnight stay, which will allow us to experience the island at its most magical—during the golden hours of sunrise and sunset, and to witness the birds as they come and go from their nests. I’m already looking forward to capturing these moments and immersing myself even deeper in the beauty of Stora Karlsö.
