My visit to Knuthöjdsmossen in spring 2023 holds a special place in my heart. By pure coincidence, I crossed paths with a photographer whose work has long inspired me. I was fortunate enough to receive tips and guidance that have helped me grow as a photographer—an experience I’ll always treasure.
What stays with me just as vividly is the hauntingly beautiful call of the red-throated loons, echoing across the stillness of the moss. Their presence adds to the magic of this unique wetland, a place that feels like stepping into another world.
However, with such beauty comes responsibility. Due to misbehavior by some visitors, a larger area of Knuthöjdsmossen will be protected starting in 2024, restricting access during the nesting period. While it’s disappointing to lose access to certain areas, respecting nature and ensuring the well-being of wildlife is far more important than any photograph.
Knuthöjdsmossen is a reminder that the best moments in nature are not just about what we capture, but about what we leave behind for future generations.
